Hema Malini made her Bollywood debut opposite Raj Kapoor

Very few must know that Hema Malini directed SRK's first film Dil Aashiyana Hai but it released after Deewana, hence making it his debut in Bollywood.Hema Malini began her career with regional cinema when she performed as a dancer in a Tamil film in 1961. In 1964, she was rejected by Tamil Director, C.V.Sridhar who thought she was too thin to act. She then performed as a dancer on the song Singara Therukku Sela from the 1963 Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam starring S.A.Asokan as the hero. She finally made her Bollywood debut opposite Raj Kapoor in the 1968 film Sapno Ka Saudagar which did not fare well at the box office.
