Radhika Apte essays a secret agent doubling as a homemaker in
Anushree Mehta's directorial debut 'Mrs. Undercover'. The film, a hilarious spy comedy with a message, was shot in just 29 days in Kolkata, a rarity for movies of its size and genre.
Talking about wrapping the film in a tight schedule, writer-director Anushree Mehta says, "I have shot Mrs. Undercover in just 29 days. For an action spy masala Hindi film, 29 days is way too less a time for the film to be shot in the way a director envisions the same. But with limited resources, manpower and time it was a major task for me to accomplish and yet achieve my vision."
'Mrs. Undercover' was filmed across various iconic locations in Kolkata. Anushree says it took a lot of meticulous planning and coordination to execute the complex film in a limited time.
"We had no room for any error and to do the same I had the full support of my partner producer Abir Sengupta and my lead actor Radhika Apte," Anushree shares. "I have produced films in the past as well so I had a fair idea, how to walk hand in hand with Abir & his team to make things happen in time for the film."
Producer Abir Sengupta adds, "Having directed movies before with limited resources, I knew the kind of challenges my director Anushree Mehta would face to achieve shooting the film in an impossible schedule of 29 days and thus I had to start firefighting much before the shoot began. And she was so good with her planning and so clear with her vision that it made my job much easier than it was. She knew exactly what to shoot and how to edit and put together the film the way she envisioned it."
'Mrs. Undercover' releases on OTT on April 14.
