Siddhant Chaturvedi made a dynamic entry into movies with Gully Boy, where he played the role of MC Sher. Post the success of this film, he became the flavor of the season with big production houses like Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions and Excel Entertainment offering him movies like Bunty Aur Babli 2, Gehraiyaan, Phone Bhoot and more.
While in most films till now, Siddhant has had the support of a big stars being with him, be it Ranveer SIngh with Gully Boy, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji in Bunty Aur Babli 2, Katrina Kaif in Phone Bhoot, and Deepika Padukone in Gehraiyaan. But with his latest film Yudhra, the actor has gone out on his own merit, and has delivered the biggest solo opening of his career with Rs 4.5 crore collection on the first day. With this, one, he has beaten the numbers of Bunty Aur Babli 2 which despite being a sequel, opened to just Rs 2.60 crore, while Phone Bhoot which was a horror comedy, was able to earn only Rs 2.05 crore.
Yudhra is second only to Gully Boy, which had taken a massive opening of Rs 19.40 crore. A lot of credit to Yudhra’s number is also because of Friday being National Cinema Day, where tickets were priced at just Rs 99. It would be interesting to see how the film fares over the weekend when the ticket prices go back to normal, as the film has received not so good reviews.
