Coming Friday will mark a hattrick for a week having as many as half a dozen film releases. For the record, none from the past 2 weeks have done good business.
Yet another Friday gone by with a string of releases garnering dull response at the box-office. UTVs Aagey Se Right was a case of a right idea gone awfully wrong due to bad direction. Vikram Bhatts Three and Deepak Tijoris Fox were both suspense-thrillers. While the former had no star value and the latter did (Arjun Rampal Sunny Deol), both failed at the box-office. Surprisingly Rishi Kapoors Chintuji got the best reviews but since the film was low on promotions and didnt boast of star value either, it went unnoticed except for a few multiplexes.
Mohandas was another meaningful cinema which didnt gel much with the entertainment seeking junta. Bachelor Party (Jimmy Sheirgill Arbaaz Khan) was clearly a washout. This Friday will mark a hattrick for a week having as many as half a dozen releases lined-up. Ashu Trikhas hard-hitting underworld film Baabarr is gaining positive word of mouth from industry insiders. Bobby Deol and Kangana Ranauts much-delayed film Vaada Raha (earlier titled Roshan) releases without any hype or strong promotions. An offbeat comedy Aamras is the coming of age story of 4 girls and features an all new cast.
Ruslaan falls in the B-grade category. The English film The Unforgettable directed by director duo Arsala Qureishi and Sabrina Louis stars Pakistani actress Sofia Hayat. Lisa Rays I Cant Think Straight comes to India much late with the pirated version already out on the internet. The next big releases in Bollywood will arrive on September 18 when Salman Khans Wanted and Rani Mukherjee-Shahid Kapoors Dil Bole Hadippa will hit the screens. Stay tuned.
