In a historic achievement, Chhaava (2025) has now emerged as the 8th biggest hit of Indian cinema based on India net collections, surpassing Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. The period epic, which has taken audiences by storm, has recorded a staggering Rs 554.75 crore in India net collections, placing it above Ranbir Kapoor’sAnimal (Rs 553.87 crore) and Shah Rukh Khan’sPathaan (Rs 543.09 crore).

The film, which is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has struck a deep chord with audiences across the country. With powerful storytelling, grand visuals, and stellar performances, Chhaava has managed to carve its place among the highest-grossing films in Indian history. Despite being a non-franchise film, its overwhelming success proves that compelling narratives and strong word-of-mouth can still draw massive audiences to theaters.

While Animal was a modern-day action spectacle that captivated urban audiences, and Pathaan was a global spy-thriller starring Bollywood’s biggest superstar, Chhaava has stood tall with its historical theme and patriotic fervor. The film’s triumph also highlights the growing preference for period dramas that showcase India’s rich heritage and valor.

With a worldwide gross of Rs 741 crore and an impressive overseas collection of Rs 89 crore, Chhaava has also made a significant mark internationally. Its domestic success, however, is what truly cements its place in the record books.

As Chhaava continues its golden run, it remains to be seen how much higher it can climb on the all-time box office charts. For now, its entry into the top 10 and its remarkable feat of overtaking Animal and Pathaan is a moment of pride for the film’s team and its audiences alike.
