Vicky Kaushal's latest film, Chhaava, has made a remarkable impact at the Indian box office, amassing Rs 412.50 crore by the end of its 15th day, the film added Rs 13 crores as per early estimates by Sacnilk. This impressive performance has propelled Chhaava past Rajinikanth's 2.0, which earned Rs 407 crore, and Prabhas's Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, which collected Rs 406.45 crore, positioning Chhaava as the 12th biggest hit of Indian Cinema.

Despite this achievement, Chhaava currently stands as the 9th highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. To surpass the Hindi version of KGF: Chapter 2, which holds a record of Rs 435 crore, Chhaava needs to generate an additional Rs 22.50 crore. Given its current momentum, industry analysts anticipate that Chhaava may reach or exceed this milestone by the end of the day.

The success of Chhaava is particularly noteworthy in the context of Bollywood's recent challenges. In 2024, the industry experienced a 7% decline in box office collections, amounting to $1 billion in the first ten months. This downturn was exacerbated by the rising dominance of South Indian films, such as Pushpa 2: The Rule and Kalki 2898 AD, which captivated audiences nationwide.

In this challenging environment, Chhaava's performance offers a beacon of hope for Bollywood. Its success suggests that audiences are still eager for compelling Hindi-language content, provided it resonates with their expectations.

Chhaava directed by Laxman Utekar also featured significant performances by Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai and Viineet Kumat Singh as Kavi Kalash.

Post Chhaava, Vicky Kaushal is currently tied up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War which will feature him with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt after Sanju and Raazi respectively. The film is reportedly a modern adaptation of Raj Kapoor’s Sangam with a war background.
