Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s love story ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ has held its steady pace at the box office ever since its release a fortnight ago. The film that revolves around the issue of open-defecation in India went on to collect around Rs 1.15 crore on its third Friday, according to Boxofficeindia.com.

Also Read: Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Movie ReviewThe film earned Rs 94.21 crore in its first week and Rs 27.75 crore in its second week. It now stands at a fifteen-day total of Rs 123.11 crore. It seems to be on its way to become the year’s highest Bollywood grosser at the domestic box-office, leaving the magnum opus ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ aside.

Also starring Anupam Kher, Sudhir Pandey, Divyendu Sharma and Shubha Khote, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is a love story set in the Nandgaon region of Mathura that boasts of an entertaining ride with several songs including a Holi number ‘Gori tu latth maar’ and a romantic song ‘Bakheda’ besides a promotional one ‘Toilet Ka Jugaad’ which was launched in the presence of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

The film is about a newly-married couple who are separated as the new bride (Bhumi Pednekar) leaves the house of her in-laws in the absence of a proper toilet. How the husband, played by Akshay Kumar, fights the rigid social norms to get a toilet in the house and his wife back forms the crux of the film. It takes a leaf from a real-life story amid PM Narendra Modi’s cleanliness campaign ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.’
