The Week's Top films at the Box Office

Ghajini
Rating:

If you are expecting an intelligent psychological suspense thriller, watch Memento. If you are looking for an intense desi action masala watch the Tamil 'Ghajini'. For the Hindi version doesn't show much difference other than trimming the twin villain from the original into a single baddie. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Rating:

Let's start with the moral of the story which intends to give the message of accepting people as they are without expecting them to change their real self. So if you can accept the Aditya Chopra brand of surreal romance without expecting him to change (read upgrade) his style since the last time he directed (eight years back), this divine love story is certainly your cup of tea. Anushka Sharma exudes spirited screen-presence and has the most electrifying smile amongst present actresses.

Jumbo
Rating:

Animation films can afford to resort to cliches provided they stretch it to the extent of spoof. Unfortunately Jumbo doesn't get satirical but formulaic. It is severely short on humour with its only coherent comic character being a Zazoo kind of birdie (voiced by Rajpal Yadav). Whether you are an Akshay Kumar aficionado or an animation genre fan, 'Jumbo' won't appeal much to either. This time the animation format is enhanced but the storytelling is obsolete. 'Jumbo' isn't as entertaining as its title suggests.

Dostana
Rating:

'Dostana' essentially employs the comedy of errors code, though not in terms of mistaken personalities but preferences. Karan Johar extends his legacy of kanta-ben humor as the crux of the story. 'Dostana' would have ended up as a regular love-triangle if not for the intelligently-incorporated gay angle. Furthermore it survives significantly and skillfully throughout the film springing up smart surprises every now and then.
