'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' box office collection day 12: The Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor crosses Rs 50 crore, as 'Kantara' crosses Rs 450 crore
Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s '', also featuring Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf, hit theatres on October 2, going head-to-head with Rishab Shetty’s 'Kantara: Chapter 1'. The box office clash was always expected to be uneven after all, Kantara comes with the weight of a massive franchise and a much grander scale.
While the 2022 original was a phenomenal success, the new installment — a prequel — has managed to surpass even those numbers. Another major factor that widened the box office gap was the wider release of Kantara: Chapter 1, which opened in five languages - Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam, giving it a far broader reach compared to 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari'.
'SSKTK' opened at Rs 9.25 crore on day 1. The film saw a drop on day 2 which is Friday and made only Rs 5.5 crore. But there was growth as compared to that over the weekend. It made Rs 7.5 crore respectively on Saturday and Sunday each. It began seeing a drop from Monday onwards, gradually and started making in the Rs 2-3 crore range. On Tuesday, it made Rs 3.25 crore as it must have benefitted from the discounted ticket prices. On Wednesday, it collected Rs 2.25 crore and on Thursday, which is day 8, it garnered Rs 2 crore. Thus, the first week collection of the film was Rs 41.1 crore. On Friday, it collected Rs 2.25 crore and it saw some growth on Saturday which is day 10, making Rs 3.25 crore.
On day 11, which is Sunday, the collection was around Rs 3 crore. The drop on Monday was expected and the film did see a dip. It made Rs 1.15 crore on day 12 which is Monday. Even 'Kantara' has seen a huge drop on Monday as compared to the Sunday numbers. The total collections of 'SSKTK' now stand at Rs 51.00 crore according to Sacnilk. 'Kantara' has crossed Rs 450 crore on its day 12.
Diwali will see the release of 'Thamma' starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna. Till then, 'SSKTK' still has some scope to add more to its number.
