Aamir Khan delighted by fans’ response
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is being called the spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan’s much-loved 2007 film ‘Taare Zameen Par’. It looks like the audience has embraced this new chapter too. Speaking about how happy he is with the reaction to the film, Aamir Khan told NDTV, "I am thrilled with the response. Itne khush cheezein dikh rahe hai. The film is touching a deep chord with people, and that is making me and the entire team very happy."
In a chat with Pinkvilla, Aamir shared why he feels it’s important for people to back different kinds of films, especially since ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ had just hit cinemas. He pointed out that if audiences only watch action movies, then even filmmakers will start focusing just on those.
Aamir explained that people love stories of all sorts, and if they only supported action films, then that’s all directors would end up making. He felt that viewers would then be left with no choice but to keep watching the same kind of action-packed stories at the cinema. According to him, if people enjoy all kinds of films and want more variety, they should go out and watch them in theatres. He believed that their support gives creators the freedom to bring different stories to the big screen.
About the film
Directed by RS Prasanna, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ follows the story of a suspended basketball coach, played by Aamir Khan, who is ordered to do community service. He starts training a team of neurodivergent players and slowly undergoes a big change himself.
The film also stars Genelia D’Souza, who brings her own warmth and charm to the story. Adding to the film’s special touch are ten new faces – Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar. These young actors have poured heart into their roles and made the story even more touching.
Ready to face new competition
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is set to face competition from Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro In Dino’, which releases on Friday, 4 July. It will be interesting to see how Aamir Khan’s film holds its ground at the box office when audiences have a new big release to watch.

People are tired of old , outdated Bollywood captured by old khan gang. It’s unbearable when 60 years old people try to picturize themselves as Romeo’s as if in 1.4 billion people can’t find good young actors with fresh faces . Every product has a shelf life, baked items, fruits, vegetables even khans of Bollywood as after some time they loose their market value and ultimately they loose credibilityRead allPost comment
