Sam Bahadur remains consistent in its third week; crosses Rs 80 crore mark

Despite facing tough competition from Ranbir Kapoor's "Animal," Vicky Kaushal's "Sam Bahadur" emerges as an unexpected hit of the year. In its third week, the film had a remarkable run, earning almost Rs 12.25 crore over the weekend and pushing its total collection past Rs 75 crore.



After a fall on Monday while recording just Rs 1.6 crore, the film has remained consistent not only on Tuesday but also on Wednesday adding Rs 1.50 crore for each day respectively taking the total of the film to Rs 81.20 crore.



At the 20th day mark, Vicky’s first hit of the year Zara Hatke Zara Bachke with Sara Ali Khan was around Rs 71.46 crore, ending its run in the country with a total collection of Rs 88.35 crore in its 7th week. Sam Bahadur needs a little more than Rs 7 crore to beat the numbers of Vicky’s biggest of the year. It looks a little difficult from this point on as in the fight between Dunki and Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire and Animal, Sam Bahadur might become the biggest casualty and would have to give up most screens.




"Sam Bahadur," depicting the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, was produced with a reported budget of Rs 55 crore, targeting a lifetime total surpassing Rs 85 crore. Currently the single screen owners are fighting it out with the makers of Dunki over screen sharing numbers with Salaar but they would be more than happy to make place for Sam Bahadur as with the film in 3rd week, cinema owners have a higher share from ticket sales as compared to first two weeks.


Vicky plays a special role in Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, he has also begun training for his next film Chhava with Laxman Utekar. This one is inspired by the life Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
