'Saiyaara' box office collection day 18: The Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda movie crosses Rs 300 crore in India but slows down as 'Mahavtar Narsimha' now dominates over the other releases
'Saiyaara' which released in cinemas on July 18 has completely taken over the box office and the hearts of the audience in the last few days. The film directed by Mohit Suri enjoyed a good two-week run at the box office so far and has now entered its third week. However, it began to slow down as 'Mahavtar Narsimha' released and picked up last week due to positive word of mouth. Infact, on Friday, August 1, we had two new releases in the form of 'Son Of Sardaar 2' and 'Dhadak 2' but 'Mahavtar Narsimha' did more business than them and even 'Saiyaara'.
Saiyaara Movie Review
Now it's been a busy weekend in theatres. On its third Saturday and Sunday, 'Saiyaara' made Rs 6.75 crore and Rs 8 crore respectively. It missed the Rs 300 crore mark over the weekend but has finally crossed that on Monday. On day 18, which is third Monday, the movie has made Rs 1.54 crore till the morning shows. Thus the total collection now stands at Rs 301.29 crore net in India.
The collections of the film saw a dip in the third weekend because of new competition and the holdover release 'Mahavtar Narsimha'. Still, the overall numbers remain strong, especially considering how well the film has performed so far.
According to Box Office India, the theatrical run of 'Saiyaara' will be cut short as 'War 2' is set to release in two weeks, which means collections are expected to slow down after that. Even so, 'Saiyaara' is a huge BLOCKBUSTER and one of the most successful love stories ever in Hindi cinema. It’s now on track to end its run with around ₹325–350 crore nett, depending on how the third Friday performs.
What makes 'Saiyaara’s success so special is that it's not part of a franchise, nor is it a big-budget action film. Yet, it has managed to pull off these massive numbers. It proves that when a smaller film connects with the audience—especially in the Hindi heartland—the rewards can be even greater.
