Rishab Shetty’s 'Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ mints over half a million from its premiere shows in North America

Back in 2022 when Rishab Shetty made Kantara neither he nor anyone involved with the film knew that the film would go on to become one of the biggest cultural phenomenons of Kannada film industry. The film had gone on to mint more than Rs 310 crore from in India of which more than Rs 80 crore came from Hindi version despite releasing 2 weeks after its release in South of India. The film also forms one of those rare occasions where week 2 collection was higher than week 1 and week 3 collection was higher than week 2. With the success of Kantara, the demand for its sequel grew and Rishab decided to go back in history and bring the prequel to its 2022 story with Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1.

As the film has begun to roll out across the globe, the numbers have begun to pour in for its premiere shows. North America was the first circuit where the shows had begun and till now the film has minted more than USD 500,000 taking a very good start for the film whose breakeven has been pegged at USD 9 million. The advance booking for the film has begun with a bang where it had collected USD 51,000 on day 1, since then the film has grown but not at a fantastic speed as one would expect from a sequel. But before the premiere shows began the film had crossed the USD 300,000 mark .




In India as well the film has taken a very good start where advance booking has crossed Rs 25 crore mark and going by very good reviews the film is expected to open at least with Rs 40 crore collection for day 1 clearly outperforming Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar headlined by Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor which is also releasing today.
