'Raazi' box-office collection Day 1: Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal starrer registers strong opening collection

Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions' film 'Raazi' piqued the curiosity of the viewers with its intriguing trailer and melodious music before it even released. It looks like the film has managed to perform equally well on its release.

The film registered a strong opening collection of Rs 7.53 crore on Friday. 'Raazi' recorded the fifth highest opening for a Hindi film in 2018, leaping ahead of this year's hits like 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' (Rs 6.18 crore), 'Hichki' (Rs 3.31 crore) and 'October' (Rs 4.18 crore).
With extremely positive reviews, 'Raazi' is expected to grow its collection from Saturday onwards banking on the positive word of mouth. The film's story is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war in 1971, where an Indian girl (played by Alia Bhatt) marries a Pakistani Army officer (Vicky Kaushal) to spy for her country.
'Raazi' also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shishir Sharma, Rajit Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Arif Zakaria and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles. The film also marks the return of director Meghna Gulzar, after the tremendous success of 2015 film 'Talvar'.

While B-town celebrities couldn't stop raving about the film's amazing cast and captivating plotline, Alia's father Mahesh Bhatt believes that in ‘Raazi’, Alia has given her best performance till date. He took to Twitter to share his emotions. He wrote, “Raazi movie review: In Meghna Gulzar's engaging thriller, Alia Bhatt gives her career's best performance so far”.
