It has only been five days to the release of SS Rajamouli,
Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s Baahubali- The Epic and it has already put its stamp at the box office. The film is six days including its premiere shows has minted USD 850,000 ( Rs 7.5 crore) clearly outperforming all Indian films which released with it or a week before it. On the 5th day it added USD 65,000 to its tally.
Pranav Mohanlal and Rahul Sadasivan’s Dies Irae which released with Baahuballi has minted USD 362,000 in the same time frame with its 5th day collection coming in at USD 40,000. In fact last week’s release Thamma which has already crossed USD 1 million at the North American box office was able to add only USD 23,000 on Tuesday while Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara was able to earn just USD 9K, while it total collection is just USD 98,000. Baahubali- The Epic has clearly an edge over all other Indian releases at the North American box office.
It would be interesting to see if this week’s new release The Girlfriend headlined by
Rashmika Mandanna, Anu Emmanuel and directed by Rahul Ravindran will be able to stop the growth of The Epic or not. As per sources The Epic would be surely in the theaters for the second weekend, post that it would follow RRR’s strategy where it would not go off the cinema halls completely but would be available in clusters in cinemas across the circuit for the foreseeable future. Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s RRR was able to add USD 1.5 million to its kitty after its original run in theaters was over thanks to this strategy. Also this strategy would enable non-Indian fans of SS Rajamouli to witness Baahubali on the big screen in the way he always wanted to show.
