‘Pagalpanti’ and ‘Frozen 2’ had a tough Monday at the box office with the films seeing a drop in collections. According to reports on BoxofficeIndia.com, the two films saw an approximate drop of 50% on its first weekday at the ticket windows.
Although both films have a similar trend on Monday, it still proved to be enough for the Hollywood animated kiddie flick ‘Frozen 2’ to sail through.
However, the same can’t be said for ‘Pagalpanti’.
The report goes on to state that the John Abraham starrer may earn an estimated Rs 2.50 crore nett, taking its total collection to Rs 22 crore nett. The low numbers have prevented the film from registering a successful start and have diminished the possibilities of the film crossing the 30-crore mark, a number Bollywood films aim to touch in their first weekend in order to register a decent collection. With no extended holiday weekend coming up any time soon, it remains to be seen how well the film performs through the week and over the next weekend.
Meanwhile, ‘Frozen 2’ is expected to collect about Rs 1.75 crore nett. The film, being a kiddie flick, is expected to draw in the crowds again over the upcoming weekend. Trade gurus also expect a huge jump in collections for the next weekend. On the international front, ‘Frozen 2’ has gone on to ice out all the competition and become the highest-opening animated film of all time with a collection of $350.2 million worldwide.
