NTR Jr’s upcoming film Devara, which is his first movie post the success of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, and his first solo film in 6 years generated quite a buzz when the advance booking for the film opened in the United States of America. The film went on to mint US 1 million even before the trailer was released, but post release, the growth has been a bit stunted. But now, with just 10 days to the premiere shows, the film is picking up once again, after averaging about US $ 73500 over the weekend, the film’s collection has jumped over US $ 100,000 by Monday night, thus taking the overall premiere day sale of the film to US $ 1.35 million ( Rs 11.31 crore), whereas till yesterday it was US $ 1.25 million.
One can also attribute the slow rate of growth over the past few days to less number of shows and locations being added to the mix. But the film has now opened advance booking in nearly 550 locations, and has over 1500 shows queued up, and has sold more than 46,000 tickets till now in the country. Telugu has become the 11th most spoken language in the United States of America with more than 1.2 million people speaking the language, thus creating a huge base for Telugu films.
Devara marks the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The film is directed by Kortala Siva and will have two installments. For the second part Bobby Deol has been roped in as the negative lead.
