’ is raging ahead with newfound vigour and grew immensely during the weekend. The film is India’s official entry in the foreign language category at the Oscars and also gained heavily from a positive word of mouth.

The film which opened at just Rs 90 lac went on to collect Rs 2.50 crore on Saturday and grew to Rs 3.50 on Sunday crore, reports BoxofficeIndia.com. The film has now collected Rs 6.90 crore in three days.

amid tight security. The story revolves around him and how he stands up against all odds and objects to the apathy of the security forces amid the threat from the rebels who excel in guerrilla attacks while being hell-bent to conduct fair and free voting.

Pankaj Tripathi of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ also plays a prominent part of army officer Aatma Singh, who is responsible for the protection of the election duty officers. The star cast of the film also includes Anjali Patil as Malko and Raghubir Yadav as Loknath. Loaded with interesting dialogues and real-life situations, the film holds authenticity and is being lauded by the audience.

Directed and written by Amit V Masurkar, ‘Newton’ has already been applauded worldwide. The world premiere of the film was held in the Forum section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival and is now selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.
