As Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD sets the box office on fire, the existing films are facing severe heat from the mythological futuristic film. But Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and Sharvari starrer Munjya, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar is showing resilience and fighting forward to reach the Rs 100 crore mark.

The film in the first three weeks, earned Rs 90.9 crore while competing with films like Mr and Mrs Mahi and Chandu Champion. It also went head on with Kalki on Thursday; last week, its collection dropped by more than 60 %, and for the first time, its collection went below Rs 1 crore mark.

But the film has shown great strength at the box office Friday onwards, as it earned Rs 75 lakh; on Saturday the number jumped to Rs 1.25 crore, and on Sunday it earned Rs 1.90 crore and on Monday, it added another Rs 55 lakh. And the numbers remained steady even on Tuesday, as the movie minted 56 lakh, thus taking the 26 day total of the film to Rs 96.01 crore. The film has gone on to become the third highest grossing Hindi film of the year, but with the release of Kalki, the entire order changed. Kalki is now the third highest grossing film in Hindi, followed by Fighter, Shaitaan and Munjya.

Munjya is part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe along with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree and Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s Bhediya and one can expect characters from all three films to have a crossover soon. In fact, after werewolves and ghosts now even vampires are being added to the horror universe as Aditya Sarpotdar is kickstarting his next film The Vampires of Vijay Nagar with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
