'Mohalla Assi' box office collection day 1: The Sunny Deol starrer opens to Rs 25 lakhs

After the director claimed that his dues were not paid, the film release was delayed for 3 years from 2012 to 2015.











And on 30 June 2015, the release of the film was stayed by a Delhi court for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. However, after so much delay, the film has finally seen the light of the day on 16 November 2018.

Now, according to the report on BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has opened to Rs 25 lakhs nett. The film did better in UP as the base was Varanasi and it collected around 11-12 lakhs in the Delhi / UP.

The film's story is based on the events occurred in 1990 and 1989 including Ram Janmabhoomi movement and Mandal Commission implementation. It is based on the novel 'Kashi Ka Assi' by Dr. Kashinath Singh.

Helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film also stars Ravi Kishan, Sakshi Tanwar, Saurabh Shukla, Mukesh Tiwari, Mithilesh Chaturvedi, Rajendra Gupta and Seema Azmi.

The film was leaked online in August 2015.
