'Merry Christmas', starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, hit theaters on January 12. Though the film began with a slow start on Friday, it picked up massively on Saturday, but jumped by just about 10 % on Sunday. The overall weekend collection of the film currently stands at Rs 9,65 crore.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened to Rs 2.55 crore on Day 1, which was in sync with director Sriram Raghavan’s last film Andhadhun. On Saturday, the film saw a major jump of 40 % accumulating Rs 3.45 crore, while a similar jump was expected on Sunday, but it just saw a marginal jump of 10 %, and minted Rs 3.75 crore as per early estimates.

The film revolves around Albert (played by Vijay) and Maria (portrayed by Katrina Kaif), two strangers, whose paths unexpectedly intersect, leading them into a whirlwind of unfortunate circumstances. In classic Sriram Raghavan fashion, 'Merry Christmas' promises a thrilling ride, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats as they try to anticipate the next moves of Albert and Maria.

Monday is very important for the film, as it will decide how far it will continue to run in the theaters. It is safe in the sense that it faces no immediate competition from any other Hindi film, till Fighter hits theatres on January 25. However, recent releases from South India like Hanuman, Captain Miller, Guntur Kaaram and Ayalan are already attracting the audiences.
