Merry Christmas, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, hit theaters on January 12. Though the film began with a slow start on Friday, it picked up considerably on Saturday, showed a small jump on Sunday, on Monday it dropped massively by 55% but since then, it has been consistent at the box office. The film in its first week as per Sacnilk, collected about Rs 14.75 crore. And going by the first week’s collection, one would have expected the film to fold up, but it is fighting bravely at the box office in its second weekend.

On its second Friday, the film just collected Rs 52 lakhs, but on Saturday, it jumped more than 100 % to collect Rs 1.1 crore, and even on Sunday, it collected Rs 1.1 crore, taking the second weekend collection to Rs 2.72 crore and the 10 day collection to Rs 17.47 crore. When the film began on a slow note no one was surprised, as that is how Sriram Raghavan’s films usually start, but the film has hardly shown any major spike over time, to suggest that it will have a long run. It still has 3 days at the box office, before Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter takes up most screens.
