The film which released on March 15 clashed at the box office with 'Photograph', 'Hamid' and 'Milan Talkies'.
According to the latest report in the Boxofficeindia.com, on Saturday, the film has managed to rake in a total of Rs 10 lakh at the box office on its second day. The film has managed to collect a total of Rs 18 lakh in two days at the box office.
The plot of the film revolves around an eight-year-old boy’s emotional plea to the Prime Minister of India, raising the issue of open defecation. Kanhu lives in the slums of Mumbai and his life takes a serious turn after his mother gets raped due to the lack of sanitation facilities.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the social drama stars Anjali Patil, Om Kanojiya, Atul Kulkarni, Makrand Deshpande, Niteesh Wadhwa and Rasika Agashe in important roles. 'Mere Pyare Prime Minister' is the only Asian film to be screened at the Rome Film Festival.
