Marjaavaan box office day 1: Sidharth Malhotra’s revenge drama beats ‘Kapoor and Sons’ with an opening of Rs 7 crore

’ has opened to a decent figure at the box office and seems like fans are loving the actor’s mean avatar. The revenge drama has opened with Rs 6.75-7 crore at the box office, stated a report on Boxofficeindia.com. It did not fare too well in big multiplexes, but managed to get similar footfalls like last week’s blockbuster ‘Bala’. ‘Marjaavaan’ has fared well in single screens and lower priced multiplexes. With this figure, ‘Marjaavaan’ has emerged as Sidharth Malhotra’s fourth highest grosser, beating ‘Kapoor and Sons’ which made Rs 6.58 crore on its first day.

With positive box office response and mixed reviews, Monday will be a crucial day for the film and will decide its commercial success. Since ‘Marjaavaan’ is not raking in much money in high end multiplexes, the film is not expected to grow massively in figures over the weekend. The reported further stated that ‘Marjaavaan’ fetched almost Rs 40 lakh nett from in Bihar and total of Rs 1.80 crore nett from the Delhi / UP circuit, while CP Berar and Nizam markets collected Rs 45 lakh each.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’ also hit the screens yesterday but raked in only Rs 30 lakh nett while Hollywood release ‘Charlie’s Angels’ collected around Rs 50-55 lakhs nett on day one.
