Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' has done well in its first-weekend collection at the box office. Co-directed by Kangana and Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (
Krish), the film has opened to good reviews and has impressed the audience, with the lead actress Kangana getting widespread acclamation for her performance. The movie narrates the story great Indian freedom fighter Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi.
Kangana Ranaut plays the warrior queen in the film. The period drama clashed with Nawazuddin Siddiqui political biopic 'Thackeray' at the box office. The film released on January 25, a day prior to the Republic Day.

The collection on Sunday is less than that of Saturday as the national holiday had given a tremendous boost to the film. The film has till now managed to collect a total of Rs 40.25 crore at the box office in three days. However, the true potential of the film will be answered in the figures of the next few days.
'Manikarnika' has the highest first weekend collections for a female-driven film. Earlier, Kangana Ranaut's 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' held the position. 'Manikarnika' was also released in Tamil and Telugu but hardly returned any numbers.
'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' narrates the story of the great Indian woman freedom fighter Rani Laxmibai, who fought against the East India Company and the British rule to prevent her kingdom of Jhansi from being annexed. The period drama also marks the Bollywood debut of television actress
Ankita Lokhande, who plays the role of Jhalkaribai, a fierce woman warrior and close confidant of Rani Laxmibai.
The film has been embroiled in many controversies. Earlier, the original director of the film, Krish, in an interview had revealed that Kangana wanted everything to herself and took over the reins. The director also accused the actress of blatantly reducing the length of her co-stars' parts.

Prasoon Joshi and has music composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy. The film also stars
Atul Kulkarni, Jisshu Sengupta, Richard Keep, Suresh Oberoi, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, and Ankita Lokhande.
