Ajay Devgn's sports drama Maidaan, depicting the inspiring story of Syed Abdul Rahim's contributions to Indian football, faced a challenging start at the box office. On its first day, the film garnered an estimated Rs 7.1 crore net in India, including earnings from paid previews. However, the following day saw a further decline in its collection.

According to Sacnilk, Maidaan is projected to earn Rs 2.75 crore on Friday, marking a notable drop in its box office performance. The film maintained an overall 8.81 per cent occupancy in theaters, bringing its two-day collection to Rs 9.85 crore.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidaan stars Ajay Devgn in the pivotal role of Syed Abdul Rahim, a football coach whose dedication and vision brought glory to Indian football. The film features a talented ensemble cast including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh, portraying various characters integral to Rahim's story.

Despite its strong narrative and performances, Maidaan faced stiff competition at the box office due to its clash with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. The clash impacted Maidaan's box office trajectory, contributing to its lower-than-expected collections in the initial days of release.

As the weekend progresses, industry analysts and fans await to see if Maidaan can recover from its initial setbacks and attract a stronger audience turnout in the coming days.
