The box office numbers for
Vijay Deverakonda and
Ananya Panday's 'Liger' are in!
The film that earned Rs 1.25 crore nett for its paid preview shows on Thursday, and saw an average opening in theatres on Friday. the movie raked in an estimated Rs 4.50 crore, states a report on boxofficeindia.com.
Following the bad reviews and negative word of mouth, the report goes on to state that the film could have seen a bigger opening collection had it scrapped its preview shows.
Despite the trolling on various social media sites, the film has done good business in Maharashtra, CP Berar, Bihar and Odisha. It has fared reasonably well in the North India sectors.
The report also states that the collections that came in from Gujarat were only Rs 30 lakh nett and also performed poorer than expected in East Punjab. The film's total two-day collection now stands at an estimated Rs 5.75 crore nett.
The film may not be sharing the box office business with any other new release, but according to reports, the upcoming India v Pakistan match on Sunday is expected to dent the film's growth and hence hamper its weekend numbers.
Reports on Thursday claimed that 'Liger' raised Rs 33.12 crore gross worldwide on its first day.
Directed by Puri Jagannadh of 'Pokiri' fame, the film released in theatres in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam on Thursday.
In the movie, "Arjun Reddy" star Deverakonda plays a kickboxer with a stutter. The film also features Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy and Vishu Reddy. Boxing icon
