Aasmaan Bhardwaj's directorial debut Kuttey starring Arjun Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Tabu among others had a dull first day.
The film collected around Rs 1 crore nett, reports Box Office India. The afternoon footfalls were lesser, but evening and night shows did a little better. An upward trend is expected on Saturday, but a less than double growth will do no good to help the film in the long run.
Anshuman Jha and Riddhi Dogra starrer Lakadbaggha could not register any collections on day one, the report further stated.
South releases like Vijay's Varisu and Ajith's Thunivu have a much greater buzz. Both films opened well for Pongal on Wednesday. But Vijay’s film has an edge in terms of content and execution. Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy too are tough competitions.
Speaking to ETimes, Kuttey director Aasmaan Bhardwaj had said, "Papa (Vishal Bhardwaj) always told me to focus on making a good film and nothing else. Numbers are not going to be in your hands so we don’t even think about it. He said, 'You have seen me. Fridays have always been ruthless to me. So, be prepared for that as well.'"
