Akshay Kumar must be heaving a sigh of relief that his last film Khel Khel Mein has managed to stay in the theaters for nearly a month, and survived the monstrous hit Stree 2 led by Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Akshay has had a tough time with most of his films post pandemic struggling to draw in the audience.

Over its three-week run, Khel Khel Mein has garnered approximately ₹31.9 crore, and saw a decent performance during its fourth weekend by collecting Rs 2.5 crore . The film crashed majorly on Monday where it collected only Rs 35 lakh, and it stayed steady on Tuesday as well, with another Rs 35 lakh collection. On Wednesday, the film saw a small dip to collect Rs 32 lakh, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 35.42 crore. The film is hoping to reach a lifetime collection of at least Rs 40 crore, which is quite possible with only Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders releasing this Friday. The film has received a not so great response from the audience, though a slate of old films from Veer-Zaara to Tumbbad to Tujhe Meri Kasam are being released to keep the audiences and theaters engaged.

On his birthday, Akshay announced his new film Bhoot Bangla , which will see his teaming up with Priyadarshan after a gap of 14 years. Together they have delivered films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and many more.

Akshay will next be seen in Singham Again during Diwali. His next film was supposed to be Sky Force, releasing on October 2nd, but it has been postponed to early next year. Beyond that, his lineup includes Welcome to the Jungle, Jolly LLB 3, and The Untold Story of C. Sankaran Nair. Additionally, reports suggest he has joined forces with Siddharth Anand for a film directed by Milan Luthria.
