'Kantara: Chapter 1' box office collection day 7: The Rishab Shetty film crosses Rs 300 crore as it nears the end of first week
'Kantara: Chapter 1' which is helmed by Rishab Shetty and also stars him has left everyone spellbound, not just with its visuals, story and reviews coming in, but the film's box office performance speaks for itself. The film which also stars Rukmini Vasanth released on October 2 which was a holiday due to Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti. The film released in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. It clashed in cinemas with '' but there's a huge difference between the numbers of both these movies. Also, they're also different in terms of its scale, budget, genre and number of screens that they released in. In the south more so, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' has been ruling. While the first installment of this franchise got rave reviews, this second part which is actually a prequel has surpassed even the first part. As far as worldwide box office is concerned, it has crossed Rs 414 crore which beats the lifetime collection of 'Kantara'.
Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 Movie Review
As far as the domestic box office is concerned, it had an opening of a whopping Rs 61.85 crore at the box office on day 1. Out of this, Rs 19.6 crore came from the Kannada version, while the Telugu version made Rs 13 crore. The Hindi version of the film mined Rs 18.5 crore. It made Rs 5.5 crore and Rs 5.25 crore in the Tamil and Malayalam version respectively. The film saw a drop on day 2 and overall in all languages made Rs 45.4 crore. But there was a jump again over the weekend. Within a span of 4 days, the film crossed Rs 220 crore which is huge. With this. With this, 'Kantara' is now in the top 10 highest grossing movies of the year. The film has surpassed Rajinikanth's 'Coolie', Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava'. Meanwhile, on Monday, the film made Rs 31.5 crore which is huge. It saw further growth on Tuesday and minted Rs 33.5 crore. On Wednesday, day 7, up till afternoon, the collection was Rs 19.04 Cr crore. Thus, the total domestic box office number so far is Rs 310.04 crore net, according to Sacnilk. So, just as it nears the completion of week 1, the film has crossed Rs 300 crore which is huge.
The numbers have come largely from the Kannada version of the film followed by Hindi and then the Telugu version. With its worldwide collection as well, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' has beaten the lifetime number of 'KGF Chapter 1'.
