Sidharth Malhotra and
Parineeti Chopra starrer, ‘Jabariya Jodi’ had a low opening at the window on the first day of its release at the box-office. The film made 2.75 crore on its first day.
The makers of the film had pushed the release date of the film a week ahead from August 2 to August 9 to avoid any competition and to have a solo release at the theatres. However, this seemed to have done very little to save the film.
According to a report in BoxofficeIndia.com, the morning numbers suggested a Rs 2.50 crore nett number the evenings should push the film above the Rs 3 crore nett mark which would be lower than ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ which released a couple of weeks back.
On the other hand, films like ‘Chicken Law Curry’, ‘Mushkil’ and ‘Pranaam’ have practically opened to empty houses.
‘Jabariya Jodi’ is based on the issue of groom kidnappings in Bihar. The film also stars Aparshakti Khurrana, Jaaved Jafferi, Sanjay Mishra and Chandan Roy Sanyal. Directed by Prashant Singh, ‘Jabariya Jodi’ and is produced by Balaji Telefilms and Karma Media and Entertainment.
