Harshvardhan Rane's career took off with Sanam Teri Kasam's re-release, leading to the success of Ek Dewane Ki Deewaniyat. Despite competition and mixed reviews, the low-budget film is a box office hit in India and North America, earning over Rs 66 crore and showing a strong return on investment, with projections to cross Rs 75 crore.
Harshvardhan Rane made his acting debut in 2016 with Sanam Teri Kasam but it wasn’t until the re-release of the film in 2024 that his destiny shined at the box office. The success of Sanam Teri Kasam brought him Milap Zaveri’s Ek Dewane Ki Deewaniyat opposite Sonam Bajwa and the film has been performing at the box office in a big way despite facing competition from Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma which also released on the same day. The small budget film which was shot in about 35 days has been raking in the money not only in India but also in North America. The film’s journey in the North American box office has been a very surprising one as it is not a modern and young love story like Saiyaara nor is it a rooted story like Mahavtar Narsimha or Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1. But despite all this the film raked in USD 250,000 ( Rs 2.21 crore ) in 14 days of its release.

In India as well the film has been pulling in a big audience despite the mixed and negative reviews. The film in its extended 10 day long first week minted Rs 55.15 crore. The film then on its second Friday earned Rs 2.35 crore, on Saturday the film witnessed a 34 % jump to collect Rs 3.15 crore and on Sunday the film saw another spike of 19 % to collect Rs 3.75 crore, taking the 2nd weekend total to Rs 9.25 crore. On Monday the film’s collection dropped by over 55 % to Rs1.65 crore to take the overall collection of the film to Rs 66.05 crore.
With no major Hindi release lined up for the coming week, EDKD is expected to have a smooth run at the box office and is touted to cross a lifetime collection of Rs 75 crore. The film’s collection looks small in comparison to Thamma’s number of over Rs 120 crore but EDKD has a much better return on investment as compared to Thamma which has been made on a budget of Rs 145 crore.
