‘Gadar 2’ box office collection: Sunny Deol starrer mints Rs 481 crore

Enjoying a dream run at the box office is Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer ‘Gadar 2’. The action drama opened with over Rs 100 crore in the first weekend and is now inching closer to a total of Rs 500 crore!
On its third Thursday, ‘Gadar 2’ added Rs 7.50 crore to its total, which now stands at Rs 481 crore, reports Sacnilk. The film gave tough competition to Akshay Kumar starrer ‘OMG 2’, which also arrived on the same date, August 11. ‘Gadar 2’ is now eyeing a total of Rs 500 crore, and will join the league of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Baahubali: The Conclusion.
Celebrating the film’s success, Sunny had shared on social media, “Hello everyone, first and foremost aap sab ko bohot bohot dhanyavad. Aaplogo ko Gadar 2 pasand aayi.. maine kabhi socha nahi tha. Humlog 400 cross kar chuke hai, aage bhi jayenge but yeh sab aap hi ke wajah se hua hai. Aap sabko film pasand aayi, Tara Singh pasand aaya, Sakina pasand aayi…pura parivar aaya, isiliye thank you thank you (Firstly, thank you everyone, you all liked Gadar 2. I never imagined we would cross Rs 400 crore and go ahead. All of this was possible because of the audience. You all liked Tara Singh, Sakeena and the entire family, so thank you).”
Thrilled about the film’s success, Anil Sharma has grand plans of sending ‘Gadar 2’ to the Oscars. Speaking about his ideology behind ‘Gadar 2’, the filmmaker had shared, “For making a film more than ideology you need to have sensitivity and sympathy. You need to ask yourself the real purpose you want to make a certain film. When I was planning Gadar 2, I had a lot of pressure because of the first Gadar. So, for me it was very important to bring the feel and nostalgia of Gadar in Gadar 2 and the story should move forward with the characters of Gadar 1 only and not just make a sequel with different characters, story, and name it Gadar 2. Hence, I thought of taking forward the story of Gadar 1 characters.”
