Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor’s ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ ticket sales declined a little over 40% on Monday. Despite it’s normal for the sales to drop during the week, but since it opened with low number on day 1, the film is depended heavily on the business post the weekend.
The first week of the film is expected to close at 18 crore, and wouldn’t be going further due to big film releases over the next three weeks, which are targeting the big city multiplex audience.
Apart from that, the film will be recording the best post-pandemic numbers after Sooryavanshi in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, and Chandigarh, but having said that, these numbers are far lower than they should be.
In a best-case scenario, Delhi can head for a lifetime number of 4 crores. According to a report by Box Office India, the problem Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is facing is that the urban multiplex film could have also been an OTT film now, post the pandemic.
The report also states that a film with this genre should not be collecting less than ‘‘Antim - The Final Truth’ and ‘Tadap’ over the weekend as those films will hardly have an audience at bigger multiplexes but because of mass support in certain parts of the country they managed to get better numbers.
The multiplexes in NCR which run these sorts of films were exceedingly better but just never went up on Saturday like they did before the pandemic. The film had a very Punjabi feel but even then cities like ‘Gurgaon’ and ‘Chandigarh’ collected only 45%, of the East Punjab circuit while others did not collect well. The collections of ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ till date are as follows.
Friday : 3,25,00,000 approx
Saturday : 4,25,00,000 approx
Sunday : 4,75,00,000 approx
Monday : 1,75,00,000 approx
Total : 14,00,00,000 approx
