Film runs into controversy

Directed as a high-stakes action spectacle “inspired by incredible real events,” the film stars Ranveer Singh as Indian operative Dhurandhar, who infiltrates Pakistan to eliminate top-tier threats, including characters played by Arjun Rampal (Major Iqbal) and Akshaye Khanna (Rehman Dakait). The cast also features Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Sara Arjun. However, the film has hit turbulence ahead of release. The parents of late Major Mohit Sharma have approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film, alleging that the movie uses real individuals’ likenesses without consent. The court has asked the CBFC to evaluate the concerns in detail before granting certification, with the Army’s ADGPI expected to weigh in as well.
