'De De Pyaar De 2' box office collection day 8: The Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Rakul Preet Singh starrer maintains its hold despite new releases 'Masti 4', '120 Bahadur'

The sequel to the 2019 film De De Pyaar De hit theatres on Friday, November 14, and registered a respectable start at the box office. Given the post-pandemic scenario, romantic comedies rarely deliver massive openings anymore. The movie began its run with Rs 8.75 crore and witnessed an upward trend over its first weekend. In the following days, the film maintained steady momentum, buoyed by encouraging word-of-mouth.

As the film wraps up its first week, it now faces fresh competition from new releases such as 120 Bahadur and Masti 4, which could impact its performance. During its opening weekend, the Ajay Devgn-led romcom earned under Rs 30 crore. Monday brought a predictable dip, “the Monday dip is the most natural for the biggest movies”, as it collected Rs 4.25 crore, which is a decline of around 60 percent. Interestingly, the numbers ticked up slightly on Tuesday to Rs 5 crore, likely helped by discounted ticket pricing. Wednesday added Rs 3.5 crore, followed by Rs 3.35 crore on Thursday. On Friday, day 8, the film made Rs 2.25 crore.

Meanwhile, the new releases 'Masti 4' and '120 Bahadur' have also made in the range of Rs 2-3 crore on their first day. This is a low number for new releases and thus, it is likely that if both these films do not see growth over the weekend, 'De De Pyaar De' may continue to dominate over them in the coming days.
