BO report: Daayan an average fare

Emraan Hashmi���s charm in Ek Thi Daayan (ETD) didn���t fully light up the cinema halls.
Though the actor turned in a fabulous performance, this supernatural thriller, only collected around `15.55 crore in three days. Producers Vishal Bhardwaj and Ekta Kapoor���s source maintains that they collected around `18 cr over the weekend. The film has been critically appreciated, but commercially adjudged as average fare.
Trade consultant Amod Mehra says, ���I expected ETD to be a super hit, but when I saw the three-day collection, I admitted to everyone that I was wrong.������ The film cost around `28 cr (including P&A). Daayan is therefore safe because it got around `13.5 cr from satellite rights and recovered another `9.5 cr from ancillary rights ��� like music, overseas, internet and home video.
Fox Star Studios and DreamWorks��� animation 3D film The Croods collected around ` 2.5 cr net in three days. This is a windfall for a Hollywood film in this genre.
