’, an adaptation of the Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’, has failed to rake in big numbers at the box-office. The Srijit Mukherji-diretced film garnered Rs 1.3 crore on Tuesday, thus taking the total collection to Rs 13.25 crore, according to a report on Boxofficeindia.com.
The film delves into the lives of 11 women living in a brothel that finds itself divided by the newly-chalked
LOC, with half of the house in India and the other half in Pakistan post-Partition. Vidya plays the titular role as the madam of the brothel. ‘Begum Jaan’ also stars Pallavi Sharda, Gauahar Khan, Ila Arun,
Naseeruddin Shah, Chunky Pandey, Priyanka Sethia, Flora Saini, Ridhima Tiwari, Ravija Chauhan and Poonam Rajput. The film rides high on its powerful dialogues penned by
