Baby John is Varun Dhawan’s lowest grossing film at the end of 11 days

Varun Dhawan has been one of the most exciting actors to join the Hindi film industry in the last decade. The talented actor also had a dream run at the box office wherein he delivered hits after hits with films like Student of the Year, Badlapur, Main Tera Hero , Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and many more.


But in recent years he seems to be out of luck with his films, especially his latest film Baby John which was released on 25th December 2024 . The film has spent 11 days at the box office, and till now has been Varun’s lowest grossing film till date with a box office collection of Rs 37.75 crore. Varun in the past has had many films where in the first week, collections have been more than till date collection of Baby John. The film was an adaptation of Altee’s Theri which had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead, and was supported by Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson. The film had gone to become a blockbuster hit in Tamil.


Baby John’s debacle has been a shocking one for the industry, as its collections are lower than some of the films which were considered to be the biggest duds of Varun’s career like October and Kalank.


Varun’s debut film Student of the Year made Rs 48 crore in first week and ended its run with Rs 70 crore collection. He then followed it up with Main Tera Hero whose week 1 collection was Rs 44.2 crore and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania had week 1 collection of Rs 52.60 crore. Varun then changed gears and did Badlapur which minted Rs 43.34 crore at the end of 11 days, while his next film ABCD 2 collected Rs 91.81 crore in the same time.


He then teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty for Dilwale which earned over Rs 100 crore just in its first week , while his film Dishoom with his brother Rohit Dhawan collected Rs 53.32 crore in the first week itself. Badrinath Ki Dulhania was his next film which collected Rs 73.66 crore in the first 7 days itself, while Judwaa 2 collected Rs 98.08 crore in the same time frame.


He tried something different with his next release which was Shoojit Sircar’s October, which minted Rs 40.13 crore at the end of 11 days. Varun’s first film with Yash Raj Film Sui Dhaga: Made in India collected Rs 62.50 crore in the first week, and Kalank collected Rs 78.78 crore in 7 days.


His next release was Street Dancer 3 which earned Rs 56.77 crore in the first week, while Jug Jug Jeeyo collected Rs 53.66 crore and his next film Bhediya minted Rs 42.05 crore in the first week.


Varun has a very interesting line up for the next year with Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty and the sequel to No Entry with Arjun Kapoor and Diljit once again.
