'Baby John' box office collection day 3: The Varun Dhawan starrer struggles to maintain opening day pace; collects Rs 19.65 crore

On its Christmas release, Varun Dhawan's Baby John had a strong start with impressive double-digit earnings, raising hopes for a blockbuster. However, the film's box office performance has dropped steadily over the next three days, marking a disappointing trend.

According to Sacnilk, Baby John earned Rs 19.65 crore (nett) so far. The action thriller has been struggling at the box office, showing low performance for the third consecutive day.



On its opening day, the film earned Rs 11.25 crore on December 25. It saw a 57.78% drop in business, bringing in Rs 4.75 crore on day two. The decline continued on the third day with Rs 3.65 crore, bringing the total to Rs 19.65 crore (nett). The film had an overall 9.62% occupancy in Hindi on Friday.

Baby John marked Varun's biggest opening in the past five years. His 2019 film Kalank, featuring Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sonakshi Sinha, earned Rs 21.60 crore on its opening day. However, Varun's recent theatrical releases, including Street Dancer 3D (2020), Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022), and Bhediya (2022), didn't achieve double-digit numbers on their opening days.



However, the film struggled to maintain its momentum due to tough competition from Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Along with Varun, Baby John also stars Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav, with Salman Khan making a cameo. Directed by Kalees and produced by Jawan’s Atlee, the action thriller follows a cop who hides to protect his daughter but must confront his past when her life is in danger. The film, a remake of Theri starring Vijay, received a mixed response at its release.
