‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ box-office collection Day 1: The Nawazuddin Siddiqui film opens at Rs 1.25 crore

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ opened to a lukewarm response at the box-office. The film recorded an opening of Rs 1.25 crore, according to boxofficeindia.com. Starring Bengali actress Bidita Bag as the female lead opposite Siddiqui, ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ is a mobster film directed by Kushan Nandy. The film was in the news for several reasons and the whole film fraternity came to support it against the CBFC. The Censor Board of Film Certification under the then chief Pahlaj Nihalani had demanded 48 cuts in the film, which did not go down well with the makers, as the film was already granted an ‘A’ certificate. Nawaz had himself called the flick a ‘shameless’ one hinting towards the bold subject of the film. ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ was also making news for the intimate scenes between Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bidita Bag and the quirky songs like ‘Aye Saiyan’, ‘Ghungta’ and ‘Chulbuli’. Written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, the film also stars Jatin Goswami, Shraddha Das, and Divya Dutta.
