Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira jumps by over 70 %, to earn Rs 4.25 crore

Akshay Kumar’s box office run over the past few years has been lean, with films like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Mission Raniganj, Ram Setu etc having a dismal performance. All eyes were now set on his latest film Safira, which is a Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru- a Tamil film featuring Suriya. The film has gone on to win many National awards including Best Film and Best Actor.

Sarfira also began its journey at the box office on a sticky note, where it wasn’t able to sell even a crore worth of tickets during its advance booking phase. The film finally managed to earn Rs 2.5 crore on its opening day- way below Akshay’s star power. But due to strong word of mouth, the film picked up on Saturday, its collections jumped by over 70 % as it minted Rs 4.25 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk.The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 6.75 crore.

The future run of the film purely depends on the word of mouth, and going by the Saturday numbers , it is very much possible for the Akshay starrer to hit double digit on Sunday. Akshay has a very strong line up ahead with Sky Force, Khel Khel Mein, Singham Again, Housefull 5 and Welcome to the Jungle.


Sarfira also stars Radhika Madan, Seema Biswas, Paresh Rawal and a guest appearance by Suriya himself. The film is based on Captain. Gopinath’s journey of starting the low cost airline Air Deccan in the country.
