Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira earns just Rs 12 crore over the weekend

Akshay Kumar’s lean run at the box office continues with his latest film Sarfira, which is based on the life of Captain Gopinath- the pioneer of low cost airline Air Deccan in the country. The film is an official remake of Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru. Both the films are directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad.


Sarfira’s journey at the box office began on a slow note where it earned Rs 2.5 crore on Friday. The film saw a massive jump on Saturday, where its collection jumped by over 70 % to collect Rs 4.25 crore, and on Sunday the collection jumped even higher to mint Rs 5.25 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the total collection of the film to Rs 12 crore.Going by Akshay’s standards, the film hasn't lived up to his stardom, and will highly impact the market credibility of the superstar. Now, it remains to see how the film will survive the Monday test, thus setting the future run of the film. Also with Vicky Kaushal, Ammy Virk and Triptii Dimrii’s Bad Newz releasing this week, the going will get difficult for Sarfira.




Akshay though, has a strong line up ahead with Sky Force, Khel Khel Mein, Singham Again, Housefull 5 and Welcome to the Jungle. Sarfira also stars Radhika Madan, Seema Biswas, Paresh Rawal and a guest appearance by Suriya himself. The film is based on Captain Gopinath’s journey of starting the low cost airline Air Deccan in the country.
