‘Aiyaary’ starring
Sidharth Malhotra and
Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles has continued its slow run at the box office. The film earned an estimated Rs 20 lakh on day eight at the ticket window, according to a report on BoxofficeIndia.com.
The total of the
Neeraj Pandey directorial now stands at Rs 16.50 crore nett. The suspense thriller reportedly based on the Adarsh scam in the defence sector, had a slow start and failed to pick up its pace over the week.
Reports suggest that stiff competition from ‘Padmaavat’, ‘PadMan’ and the Hollywood film ‘Black Panther’ had a role to play in its poor performance.
The movie was in the news lately when a government buss plying between Mumbai and Pune was playing a pirated copy of the film. The makers of the film vowed to take up the issue and slammed the state transport service for promoting piracy.
‘Aiyaary’ also stars
Pooja Chopra as an army officer, Naseeruddin Shah, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher and Juhi Babbar in prominent roles. Written and directed by Neeraj Pandey of ‘Baby’, 'Naam Shabana’ fame, ‘Aiyaary’ is one more patriotic flick from the filmmaker.
The romantic number ‘Lae dooba’ from ‘Aiyaary’ has been liked by music lovers while ‘Yaad hai’ by
Ankit Tiwari is another fine romantic song.
