Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Aiyaary’ has had a lukewarm start at the box-office. Starring
Sidharth Malhotra and
Manoj Bajpayee as the male leads and Rakul Preet as the leading lady, ‘Aiyaary’ is a suspense thriller reportedly based on the Adarsh scam in the defence sector. The story of the film revolves around an honest army personnel, who takes it upon himself to reveal a major scam involving corrupt bureaucrats and army officials.
The film collected around Rs 1.20 crore on Tuesday, thus taking its five-day total to around Rs 14.45 crore, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.
The censor board had directed the makers to get the film reviewed by the Defence Ministry and only after their clearance could the film be cleared for release. This, in turn, delayed the film’s release.
‘Aiyaary’ also stars
Pooja Chopra as an army officer, Naseeruddin Shah, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher and
Juhi Babbar in prominent roles. Written and directed by Neeraj Pandey of ‘Baby’, 'Naam Shabana’ fame, ‘Aiyaary’ is one more patriotic flick from the filmmaker.
The romantic number ‘Lae dooba’ from ‘Aiyaary’ has been liked by music lovers while ‘Yaad hai’ by
Ankit Tiwari is another fine romantic song.
