After gaining popularity with "Arjun Reddy" and "Geetha Govindam," Vijay Deverakonda has faced box office challenges with films like "Liger," "Dear Comrade," "World Famous Lover," and "Kushi." His latest film, "Family Star," co-starring Mrunal Thakur, is set to release globally on April 5th. Despite excitement from both actors about the family-centric film, it is struggling to connect with audiences, including in the USA where it has been sold for nearly USD 1.5 million.

In the USA, advance booking for the premiere shows has increased from 162 locations to 342, and the number of shows have also jumped to 888. But the film has managed to sell only around 8100 tickets from 3200 tickets a couple of days ago. The total collection of the film currently stands nearly at US $ 130,000 ( Rs 1 crore). Going by the price at which it has been acquired, the film needs to show massive jump over the weekend to recover the money.

On 5th April, the film would be clashing with two major releases in US, one being Dev Patel’s Monkey Man which has been carrying tremendous word of mouth post its premiere at South by SouthWest Festival. Also releasing on the same day is The First Omen which is the prequel to Omen ( 1976).
