Actor Rajeev Khandelwal enjoys gardening amidst lock down in his Goa home
Rajeev Khandelwal says he can’t thank his stars enough that he is with his wife and pet dog in his own house in Goa amid the lockdown.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Keeping that in mind, I am hoping for the best. Our country is going through the worst and everyone is stuck somewhere or the other. I am in my holiday home in Goa, where I had come with my wife Manjiri and pet dog Barfi to spend two weeks.
When we came here, things were under control. Then one fine day, we heard about the lockdown. Gradually, situation took a turn for the worse as corona cases started getting reported. We had no option but to extend our stay. I can’t thank my stars enough for the fact that I am stuck with my wife and my pet in my own house. Also, fortunately my Goa house is in the middle of a jungle. The green surroundings here are enough to lift our spirits.
But even then, the situation is such that some amount of stress is inevitable. To boost my morale and keep myself busy, I do a lot of yoga, swimming, cooking, cycling and even writing. Our garden, which has banana, mango and cashew trees, along with vegetables, also keeps me busy. I pick vegetables from the kitchen garden and cook yummy dishes. It’s very soothing and calming for my soul. Also, I am in regular touch with my family. I speak with my father, who is in Delhi with my elder brother and his family, every day. Being a nature lover, I have a lot of plants in my Mumbai home as well. I have requested my neighbours to take care of my plants till we return.
I have learnt to make masks with old kerchiefs, scarves
We are taking all precautions and do not step out unless it is an emergency. Also, whenever I go out, I always wear a mask. I have learnt to make masks with old handkerchiefs and scarves. Now, we are just praying that everything settles down soon and life comes back to normalcy.
