Actor
Pratik Gandhi shares that theatre to him is like going back to school, which “sharpens” his acting skills and “feels like coming back home”. And no matter what medium he explores, be it films or web-series, theatre will remain his first love. Like him, a number of Dhollywood stars, after exploring different mediums, continue to do what they love the most. From stars like Malhar Thakar, Pratik Gandhi, Deeksha Joshi and Siddharth Randeria to other prominent faces of D-Town like
Mayur Chauhan, Ojas Rawal, Netri Trivedi, Tarika Tripathi, Abhinay Banker, Sanjay Galsar, Bijal Joshi and Prem Gadhavi, theatre keeps them going.
“Theatre is like oxygen for me as an actor,” says Pratik. He adds, “The thrill of getting an instant audience reaction is unmatchable, something you can never experience in films.” Even though these stars feel that films and theatre are two very different mediums and the two can’t be compared, it’s theatre that makes them who they are. Says actor Mayur Chauhan, “I might have done films that have done well at the BO, but whatever I am today is because of theatre. And I don’t think I can do without doing theatre. Films are a great way to reach out to the larger audience, but it’s theatre that keeps the actor within me alive.”
