Seasoned television actress Apara Mehta, who is famous for playing the saas to perfection in several television shows, loves doing Gujarati plays whenever she finds time and keeps travelling to Vadodara for the same. Says Mehta, “I have always enjoyed doing Gujarati plays and really admire people like Asit Modi, whom I know due to my association with Gujarati theatre.

She also does not agree with people who say that Gujarati theatre is in a sorry state and says, “It is thriving, and something with more than a century old history won’t vanish overnight. But I feel that the new stage actors, in particular, should come to Mumbai and explore more options, which will help.”
