Mona Thiba Kanodia's baby shower

The Kanodias believe in doing everything in style.So, when it came to baby shower, the Kanodias made sure they hogged all the attention. Gandhinagar played host to celebrations as the Kanodias officially announced they are expecting their first baby in March this year recently. Hitu Kanodia and Mona Thiba Kanodia put all the speculations to rest last week, when the Kanodia family invited family and close friends to Mona's baby shower ceremony. Compiled by Navya Malini

The baby shower was unique. While both husband and wife sat through all the rituals, the baby shower concluded with Hitu and Mona garlanding each other after the tilak and gol ceremony. While relatives showered all the blessings on the couple who are expecting their first child in March, friends arrived to wish the 'it' couple of Dhollwyood all the warmth and good wishes.

Picture perfect moments awaited as Hitu and Mona dressed in their finery entered the hall with decked with the traditional bajot. The ceremony began with Mona's brother offering shagun to her followed by the elderly's blessings to the shagun. This was followed by chandla and gol ceremony with Hitu's sister Gugiben offering the couple jaggery as a shagun. The couple too, in turn offered Hitu's sister jaggery followed by tying of the raskha sutra -- an important ritual.

What marked the occasion was the presence of almost all the members of the family. After the ceremony Mona was escorted to take some rest where relatives and friends showered her with blessings and gifts during the baby shower. Mona took the blessings of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law Rhea who happens to be the elder daughter-in-law of the family married to Hitu's elder brother.

Hitu's uncle Mahesh Kanodia, who has recently recovered from a paralytic stroke was also present during the occasion. So were present Mona's parents and Farida Mir, a close friend of the Thiba's and Kanodias. The ceremony laste for an hour following which there was lunch and music.

Food was one thing which was completely given a miss as an engrossed family and relatives took to dancing and garba at the Kanodia residence. Veteran actor Naresh Kanodia (Hitu's father) couldn't stop himself from celebrating the occasion as he too grroved to some foot tapping garba numbers. Naresh Kanodia's wife too joined the celebrations, which made it even more special.

Friends came calling to wish the golden couple on the days. Renowned writer Kajal Oza Vaidya dropped in at the Kanodia residence and showered blessings on Mona, who is expecting her baby with Hitu. Actress Mamta Soni too visited the couple to wish them good luck. With this the atmosphere at the residence simply became all the more vibrant with all the cousins, family members gathering at one place and playing a lot of interesting games amid music, dance and songs
